SEAL Team season 2 episode 3: Is Alana dead? Jason’s decision
Tonight, SEAL Team season 2 episode 3 delivered a story that tested Jason Hayes and absolutely pushed his character to the limit.
In the opening minutes, you saw it play out: Jason rushed to the hospital, and was told shortly after this that Alana wasn’t going to make it. She was one of the great loves of his life, someone he cared about deeply and certainly not someone he ever wanted to see go away. He didn’t want to lose her, but he never really had much of a choice in the matter. She was there, and soon after that, she was gone. Jason learned that he was going to have to handle his grief almost all at once.

As for how she died, it appeared in the early going that she was killed by a drunk driver. The information started to spread, but Jason still stood alone, processing the news and figuring out how he wanted to move forward. At least he would not be alone forever. He had a family, one he had fought with together who would help him get through this and find his way. Yet, this was still foreign territory for most of the team — even though many of them were used to heartbreak and loss, it’s a little bit different when it’s someone at home. This wasn’t someone who was out in the field, putting her life on the line.
As the episode went along, we saw many members of the team discuss their thoughts on death, while Jason’s mother stopped by and offered up her own support.
Did Jason leave for a mission?
This is when the character faced an extremely hard choice between his duty to being a SEAL and his duty as a father, and he made one that he never had before. While he may not be departing the team permanently, him staying back was the right move at that time. It was a way in which to ensure that the kids had someone to lean on. Yet, in the process of that, you could still sense that there was a part of his brain over there with Ray and the rest of the crew. The episode ended with the mission far from over, so as we wait for next week, we’re left with questions as to precisely where SEAL Team goes from here.
