Arrow season 7 promotes Kirk Acevedo (Ricardo Diaz) to series regular
According to a new report coming in via Green Arrow TV, the actor will be back in a much larger capacity after being a major presence through much of season 6. We know that Diaz is a smart, capable villain, and he is certainly not like any that the show has had before. He’s very much grounded, possesses great fighting skills, and he is a scrapper. It took him a long time to complete his rise to power, but the Green Arrow worked to take much of that away from him last year. He survived, but he went away for a time and it remains to be seen precisely how he is going to come back.
The aforementioned site also notes that when we do see Diaz back on the show, he won’t be the same that we have seen in the past. He may be tied to the Longbow Hunters, who are a group of comic-book villains who will prove to be a major threat to Team Arrow.
Arrow season 7 is set to premiere on The CW next week, and we certainly hope that we’re going to have a chance to see a number of different surprises in there. We know that Diaz is a great villain, and with that, you have to hope that the writers come up with some interesting ways to use him. We want him to be a formidable challenge still, and not just a muted villain who doesn’t appear anywhere near as strong as he once was. That’s something that we’ve already seen happen to a certain extent already with this show — think along the lines of what happened with Malcolm Merlyn and then also Slade Wilson. (Slade is still out there on the series, but we’re not sure we will see him anytime soon.)
