God Friended Me ratings slide; Dancing with the Stars: Juniors starts low
Let’s start over with CBS, which shows some significant slides in week 2. This shouldn’t be a shock given the lack of a substantial NFL lead-in this week. God Friended Me fell a good 30% from its premiere to finish with a 0.9 rating, thought getting over 8.4 million viewers is still fairly impressive. We do have some faith (pun intended) that this show will continue to stick around for a little while longer if it doesn’t lose too much of an audience.
Yet, NCIS: Los Angeles also slid to a 0.8, and eventually, we are going to get to a point where we start to worry about a pricier show that is now in its tenth season. We’re not there yet, but we could be in due time. Madam Secretary posted a 0.6, which is down sharply from its season 4 premiere. Basically, the much-hyped appearance from Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, and Madeleine Albright made very little impact on the total figures.

As for what was notable elsewhere, we definitely think that the Dancing with the Stars: Juniors numbers leave something to be desired. The new competition drew just a 0.7 rating for the premiere; meanwhile, Shark Tank followed that afterwards with just a 0.6. Its numbers will likely improve with it moving to a slightly-earlier timeslot.
Given how these shows were all up against a Dallas Cowboys / Houston Texans game on Sunday Night Football, and those two teams dominate two of the largest TV markets in the country, it’s possible that this had a larger-than-typical impact on most of the ratings as a whole.
