Shark Tank preview: BoxLock, Bear Minimum, LeGlue, & Final Straw
To go along with this, we’ve also got a few impressions of what we think about each brand — but don’t worry, there aren’t any spoilers in here about whether or not they got an investment.
BoxLock – The idea for this product is fairly simple: It is designed to protect your deliveries, just because there are so many carriers out there who will just leave a package at your door … where anyone can come by and steal it. The challenge that this product faces is educating the thousands upon thousands of delivery people all over the country when it’s so much easier for some of them to just set the product down and walk away.
Final Straw – For everyone out there looking for an alternative to the standard (and wasteful) plastic straw, this is it. It’s a reusable, foldable straw that you can take with you — it’s dishwasher-safe, easy to clean, and can be carried with you in a small case. The real catch is that it costs more than $20, which may be a tough selling point for some of the casual straw users who are so used to getting a free one that they don’t have to carry around with them.
Bear Minimum – This is the company behind the Bear Bowl, which is designed to be an easy-to-use, easy-to-store camping product. It can be folded up and stored without much of a problem and is easy to clean after the fact. This is clearly a benefit to campers who like to have effective cookware, but also people who don’t want to pile their car high with a wide array of different things.
LeGlue – It’s glue … for LEGO. That’s it. It’s an easy-to-use product that specifically works for some of your favorite bricks that will still come apart in warm weather. Therefore, it keeps your bricks safe from accidents, but also still makes it that you can tear them apart after the fact. The total market size for this sort of thing is to be seen, but it does solve a problem that is absolutely out there.
