‘Shiptober 2018: The Flash (Barry & Iris) vs. Hawaii Five-0 (Steve & Catherine)
It’s a chance to celebrate some of the greatest ‘ships that the TV has to offer, and we’ve got a fun tournament this year to go along with it. Over the course of this month, we’ll be running some ‘Shiptober polls while also discussing what makes some of these couples so great and also sharing some teases / expectations for upcoming episodes! This is a chance to celebrate and discuss great ‘ships while gauging their popularity among readers at the same time. Only one ‘ship will be crowned the victor at the very end!
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Only one ‘ship will move on to the next round, and we are keeping these polls open until Friday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. In this particular showdown, we’ve got a popular superhero-show couple in Barry & Iris from The Flash facing off against Steve & Catherine from Hawaii Five-0 — a couple that isn’t together right now, but who knows what the future holds?
Barry & Iris, The Flash (#2 seed) – They’re one of the most-popular couples in the entire Arrowverse for a reason. For starters, their relationship doesn’t just leave Iris in the background with her only role on the show being his wife. WestAllen is a partnership. Barry may be out in the field (at least most of the time) as the character, while Iris is behind the scenes working in order to keep him safe alongside some of the other heroes with the team. They are a great example of a strong, supportive couple who love each other greatly and have an excellent working relationship as well. They’re going to need to rely on all of that with Nora’s arrival on season 5. She may not intend for Barry and Iris’ relationship to be tested, but that may still happen due to her uncertain feelings towards Iris.
Steve & Catherine, Hawaii Five-0 (#7 seed) – The McRoll relationship has long been a part of the CBS series, and even though Michelle Borth may no longer be a series regular, it does still seem like she could come back. The door certainly seems open to that, and with Steve now single following his breakup with Lynn, a reconciliation with Catherine now seems to be somewhat up in the air. Could it happen? It’s one of those things that you have to watch out for; if it does happen, though, the two have a number of different things to work through, especially with Catherine often being away from the islands.
