Is Jesse Williams leaving Grey’s Anatomy, and where is Jackson?

Jackson - Maggie

Is Jesse Williams leaving Grey’s Anatomyand where is his character of Dr. Jackson Avery? That may be a question you wondered on Thursday night.

Just a short period of time into the new episode, these were questions that started to emerge after it was suddenly imagined that the character was taking a leave of absence. He sent an email to many characters and a voicemail to Maggie, and through at least the early portion of this episode, that was all we had on the subject. (Consider this another way of saying “the plot thickens.”)

What we do know at the moment is that Williams remains a series regular and going into tonight, there was no talk about him being gone from the show. While he has some other ventures, he also was a part of a recent cover shoot for the show with Kelly McCreary (Maggie). If he was planning to depart the show, why spend so much time working to promote it leaving up to the premiere? It’s the sort of thing that doesn’t quite make sense. We do love Williams and his contributions to the show. With that, we would like for him to stick around for some time. That’s especially the case now that he is on this journey of self-discovery and after nearly dying in the chance accident in the premiere. With April now gone from the show’s day-to-day action, his life has changed even further.

As of the end of the episode, this story was still not resolved for Jackson. Yet, we’re still not sounding the alarm for concern as of yet. Clearly, this is something that Grey’s Anatomy wants you thinking about for some time.
