Shadowhunters fans and the gift that will (always) keep on giving

As many of you CarterMatt readers know at this point, we have been firm supporters of Shadowhunters and bringing the show back for a season 4 for quite some time. The #SaveShadowhunters movement spread far and wide throughout the summer through multiple different countries and mediums — there were internet petitions, fan videos, an airplane banner, subway advertisements, a billboard in Time Square and a whole lot more. Even this fall, the movement is continuing — while production company Constantin Film has claimed that they are moving forward past trying to secure a new home for the series, there is always still a chance at something in the future. Shadowhunters fans have a never-say-die attitude and there are certainly many examples these days of series being brought back from the dead — on some occasions years after the previous episodes aired.

Yesterday, the movement hit home for the entire CarterMatt team in a way in that we did not anticipate. A number of fans from all over the world were so kind as they sent us letters, cards, runes with thank you messages and a poster as a thank-you to us for the work we put into the movement — work that was built so much out of passion that it was rather hard in some ways to even view it as work.

While we’ve had a number of wonderful opportunities since first starting our job many years ago, this is on another level. We’re eternally grateful to everyone who has found either hope or honesty within our pieces, and that is something that we want to continue to bring your way.

In this piece, we just wanted to hand down another thank-you to everyone — we have read every single letter and they have put a smile on our face that will be there for quite some time. Shadowhunters has inspired a movement, the likes of which we have not seen before. Hopefully, this will lead to even more wonderful things in the future, as we are sure already that it has inspired many fantastic friendships and helped many people. Just remember the enormous amount of money that was raised for The Trevor Project since Freeform first canceled the series.
