The Resident season 2 episode 2 review: Who got arrested?
Take, for example, Conrad having to tell a family that their son Jack has cancer. This was a difficult thing for Conrad to pass along, but what made it just as challenging as a viewer was seeing Dr. Bell swoop in after the fact and offer the family a helicopter, knowing full well that this stood to produce quite a bit of money for the institution. This is a guy who is making more than a million dollars a year, and apparently he justifies it with all of the big bucks that he is able to bring in.
The irony here is that it was Dr. Bell on the operating-room table who ended up saving the boy’s life. He was able to complete risky procedure and, in the end, it feels like he’s going to get better … though he will have diabetes potentially for much of the rest of his life. Dr. Bell has another problem, mostly in that he got arrested in the early going this week. Because he didn’t have to report it, though, he’s going to go on about his life … at least for now. We still see this ending badly.
As for what Nic was up to this week, she made it her mission in order to track down someone who was taking medication from the hospital. On the surface, it looked like this person was an addict; yet, after some further inspection, it turned out that she was just looking for insulin and was desperate to get it however she could. By the time she did, it was a little bit too late. She did end up getting some treatment, and it was because of her crisis that Chastain could potentially consider working more in order to fund treatments for young diabetics — there isn’t a ton of money out there fore it, but it is something to consider.
One more thing to point out tonight was the arrival of Jenna Dewan as Julian Lynn, a medical device representative who proved to be very good at her job. Yet, at the same time it could be her chemistry with Devon that ends up causing the most trouble. He’s already got a relationship, but if the level of chemistry here continues, he could not have one for long.
CarterMatt Verdict
The Resident season 2 episode 2 provided a great deal of interesting drama, but we think it is the arrest of Dr. Bell that could really generate the most conversation down the line.
