NCIS: New Orleans season 5: The meaning of ‘See You Soon’
After all, we do understand why given that nobody wants to see anything happen to Dwayne Pride, and that line was spoken to him by the “other side” after he was brought back and helicoptered off to Houston, where he will recover from his injuries from the shooting.

We do understand why some would see this as a sign that Scott Bakula is going to be leaving the show sooner rather than later, but we’re not quite sure we view it the same way for now. We just think that in the afterlife, “soon” is a relative term — it could mean a year, a month, or even a decade. Pride is likely a good bit past his halfway point in life, and we think this was meant more of a reference to his fragile mortality than some sort of warning he will die soon. Clairvoyance isn’t really something this show does. We don’t foresee that as foreshadowing with that in mind.
As far as what we know for certain, Bakula’s not going anywhere in the near future. He will remain a part of the story the next several weeks, at least, and probably long beyond that. He is the star of the show, after all! What we think the show actually did tonight was rather beautiful, mostly in that they found a way to keep Pride around and also make it so that what happened to him actually matters. The series isn’t going to diminish any of this and gave us a real opportunity to sort of experience the emotional aftermath of much of what we saw tonight. It’s going to stick with us as a viewer for some time coming up, and it’s certainly going to stick with him.
