Bull season 3 reminder: Annabelle Attanasio leaving — why it happened
So what happened here? There’s no big scandal or behind-the-scenes turmoil here at all. As we reported earlier this summer when the news first came out, Attanasio is departed to focus on a directing project that has long been a passion of hers — after discussions with the producers, they allowed her to move on and pursue what she feels is right for her career. Cable was great through the two seasons that we saw her, but we do endorse shows allowing people to move on when it’s clear that this is something that they want. Why force someone to be on a show when they would rather be taking on something else?

Going into tonight’s episode, we wanted to feel like there was a good chance that Cable could return down the line if that was something that all parties involved want — but the series was also moving forward with a new tech expert. We had to accept that it wasn’t something that a return was something we couldn’t completely entertain. If you recall, the last time Cable was gone for any significant stretch of time, the TAC failed to function anywhere near as successfully. She had a unique skill set that made her perfect for this team, largely because Bull often asked different things from his employees than you tend to see at the average job.
Alas, that’s not happening — tonight, Cable was seemingly killed off as one of the victims in a shocking bridge collapse. If she ever comes back, it will have to be via a flashback. Apparently, the only way the writers felt they could write the character out was in a way that made sense. Cable wouldn’t have left the team willingly.
Cable will be missed but the show must go on. We’ll see precisely what the future holds, but we appreciate Annabelle’s contributions to the show. She brought a lot of humor and heart to the Cable character, and offered up a different perspective on cases than you got anywhere else.
