Cable Ratings: American Horror Story: Apocalypse, Suits season 8, and Mayans MC
We were certainly very curious as to how it was going to fare moving into episode 2 largely for one simple reason: The vast majority of American Horror Story seasons start to fall when you get into the second episode. They post big numbers for the premiere and then slide from there — maybe people just get turned off on the premise year after year, or they decide to watch from their DVR the rest of the season.
No matter what, the trend did continue this year with the second episode generating as a whole a 1.1 rating and over 2.2 million viewers — still great live ratings for cable, but down a hefty bit from the premiere. To date, Apocalypse is still averaging more viewers than last year’s Cult, but we have to believe the ratings decline is not quite over yet.
As for some other ratings from the week…
Mayans MC – Let’s continue to stay at FX for the moment with the Sons of Anarchy spin-off, and the news here is very good. Episode 3 posted a 0.8 rating to go along with 2.1 million viewers, meaning that its ratings were just about even with the week before. This is very-welcome news when it comes to the show being able to stabilize its audience and stay solid and strong moving forward. That also bodes well for its season 2 renewal chances.
Suits – Finally, let’s turn to the USA series to gauge its performance for the midseason finale. This episode drew a 0.3 rating and 1.08 million viewers, which is about even with most of the other recent airings. Unfortunately, it’s still to be determined if it will be renewed for another season.
