Blue Bloods season 9 premiere promo: Danny vs. Lou Diamond Phillips; Eddie in danger
First and foremost, this promo offers up your first look at Lou Diamond Phillips’ character Louis Delgado, who is a a prominent drug cartel member tied to what happened to Danny’s home a good year and a half ago. It feels almost like a given that the relationship between these two men is going to be contentious, especially when Delgado tells Danny that he wishes he was inside the house at the time of it burning.
We personally hope that Phillips does stick around as a major adversary for at least another couple of episodes, mostly because we do think that the show is better off when you’ve got a character like this causing carnage around just about every corner.
There are a few other things that are worth analyzing in here as well, whether it be Frank putting on a police jacket at the start of the promo (is he heading out into the field?) to Eddie seemingly in danger in the midst of a rather large fire. Jamie was the one in grave danger in the finale, and in that moment it was Eddie who saved him. That seemed to be a building block towards their eventually engagement.
Finally, what’s Frank exasperated about at the end of the promo? Does it have to do with Jamie and Eddie continuing to work together? It’s easy to assume that, but that’s probably just because of timing more so than anything else.
