Doctor Who season 11: BBC America airing every modern episode ahead of airing

Leading into the Doctor Who season 11 premiere on BBC America next month, apparently the network has some big plans.

In the promo below, you can see that the network is plotting out a 13 Days of Doctor Who marathon starting on Wednesday, September 25, with the big hope here being to give you a pretty-constant stream of new episodes over the almost-two weeks that follow. The event is going to kick off at 6:00 a.m. Eastern time that morning, and you will have a chance to see every modern Doctor Who episode from then until you get around to the premiere of Jodie Whittaker. (When talking about modern Doctors, we’re referring here to everyone from Christopher Eccleston onward.)

Of course, all of this is a way in which to get the buzz really going strong for the premiere on season 11, which is going to feature Jodie Whittaker in the lead role. This is a big, momentous occasion for the show, and it’s also pretty darn clear that the network wants to promote this as much as they possibly can. After all, Doctor Who probably recognizes that they have a chance to build their audience over the course of the months ahead. They want to do whatever they can in order to ensure that season 11 is big, and it continues the trend of being one of the network’s flagship shows.

Of course, Doctor Who is also enormous in Great Britain, but in a whole lot of ways that almost goes without saying. The BBC in the UK is also planning big things for the series — they wouldn’t have shifted the series to Sunday nights otherwise. This is a chance for it to get the largest audience possible and we’re pretty darn sure that they want to embrace that.
