Wanderlust episode 2 preview: Can Joy, Alan make this work?

Moving into Wanderlust episode 2 when it airs on BBC One next week, it is fair to wonder just how this show will continue. As it is, this is one of the stranger entities in recent British television — we are talking about a pseudo-romantic drama that is mostly about monogamy, whether or not it works, and also what some of the alternatives to it could be. This is where next week’s installment is going to up, as some of these carries (led by Joy) are going to do whatever they can reshape and figure out their life … potentially with mixed results. It’s certainly not entirely clear at the moment precisely what’s going to happen.

Below, the Wanderlust episode 2 synopsis does offer up some other information when it comes to what lies ahead:

Joy (Toni Collette) and Alan (Steven Mackintosh) put their daring plan into action with surprising results, but how will others react when they are told of their actions?

Meanwhile, their son Tom (Joe Hurst) shocks best friend Michelle (Isis Hainsworth) with a peculiar proposal and a disastrous date for oldest daughter Laura (Celeste Dring), ends with a shocking revelation.

It still feels very clear, at least to us, that this is not going to be the sort of series that is for everyone. It’s hard to imagine that it would be when you are dealing with a subject matter that is this controversial. Yet, at the same exact time, we do think that it will find a devoted audience through at least the remainder of the season. Beyond that, it’s a little too early to tell … but it’s not all that hard to figure out scenarios in which this series sticks around for a rather long time in the future. It just has to hope that most of its viewers decide to go ahead and commit to some of these people.
