Prison Break season 6: Dominic Purcell keeping conversation alive
Yet, we certainly do like to think that there’s a reason why series star Dominic Purcell chose to post the new image of himself alongside a rather-simple caption in a post on Instagram. His affection for the franchise is certainly well-documented, and he was one of the first people to generate excitement about a season 6 in the first place. Season 5 last aired in the spring of 2017, and the ratings at the time were okay — not great, but decent enough to potentially justify another season happening down the road.
Interestingly, schedule-wise it is probably easier than it has been to make a Prison Break season 6. After all, Wentworth Miller is no longer on Legends of Tomorrow and Sarah Wayne Callies’ recent series Colony was canceled. Yet, Purcell does remain a regular on Legends, which will probably film until the late winter / early spring. (This show has a smaller episode order than most others in the Arrowverse.) We do think that there’s probably enough time between seasons for Purcell to film Prison Break again, provided that this is something that eventually comes together. We do think coming back and doing another season every two or three years has some merit … but sometimes, revivals are not always what they are cracked up to be. Other than a few good episodes, how much joy did the recent revival of The X-Files really bring to the table?
We imagine that we will find out more about the future of Prison Break, at least in the reasonably-near future, over the course of the next year.
