The Flash season 5 reportedly casting villain Rag Doll for upcoming story

The Flash

Given that The Flash is moving into season 5, you would think that it would be harder to pull iconic villains out of DC Comics lore. Yet, the series is still finding some rather-unique ways to pull it off!

For the latest bit of evidence of this, just take a look at what the series is doing with Rag Doll! According to a report from That Hashtag Show, the CW series is casting a version of Peter Merkel, known in the comics by the name Rag Doll. The show version of the character is described as “an incredibly emotional damaged criminal who has the power to bend out of shape and fit his whole body into small spaces. As he is enjoying his criminal activities, Team Flash will be challenged by the Rag Doll in shocking ways as his sick plan is revealed.”

Obviously, this is an ability that could freak out a lot of viewers since they could utilize either a contortionist actor or just some fancy CGI to pull off some creepy effects. Either way, this is a villain that feels almost in the same family as the hero Elongated Man, given that he can stretch out his body and also manipulate its shape. Hartley Sawyer is a series regular moving into season 5, so one way or another, we’re also going to continue to have that character in the spotlight.

Given that we know already that cult leader Cicada is seemingly set to be the Big Bad for at least some (if not all) of the upcoming season, all signs point to Rag Doll being the sort of recurring villain you see for a few episodes at most. Hopefully, the character ends up being somewhat terrifying and isn’t just set up as some sort of overly-cheesy comic-book villain we are never quite worried about.
