Arrow season 7: Stephen Amell teases violent season for Oliver
Instead, it has to do with the physical toll that this season is putting on the character. In a new post on Twitter, Amell noted that the first four episodes are more “physically taxing” for him that whole seasons elsewhere. That says a lot about what is happening to him in the early part of this coming season, where Oliver is going to behind bars trying to contend with the best proper way to survive.
Being behind bars is the sort of thing that is going to be tough for just about any person, but let’s be real here: It is infinitely harder for someone like Oliver who is responsible for throwing a lot of people actually behind bars. There are going to be a substantially large group of people here with vendettas against him and they are likely going to do everything that they can in order to make his life hell. He’ll surely survive (there is now Arrow without him) but it’s not going to be easy.
It does feel in some way that the writers are also committing to Oliver being in prison as a story point, at least for the earlier portion of the season. This is important so that it doesn’t just feel like a promotional gimmick, and instead like a story that is actually going to matter in the long-term.
Arrow season 7 premieres on The CW this October, when the show is going to be moving yet again to a new timeslot. This time around, it will help to kick offer the work week on Mondays.
