Crime Dynamic Duos: Criminal Minds (Reid / JJ) vs. Blindspot (Jane / Weller)
What are the rules of the tournament? Basically, all eligible shows have to still be in the midst of their run on TV as of August 1, and at least one character involved needs to be involved in solving crimes in some capacity. They can be a cop, a private investigator, a federal agent, a lawyer or a high-ranking officer. What matters is that they put plenty of bad people away.
Voting Rules – Vote however often you like! Voting for Round 2 is open until Sunday, August 19 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time; round 3 will kick off the following day. The image at the top of the article should explain everything.
Today, round 2 continues as Reid and JJ from Criminal Minds face off against Jane and Weller of Blindspot. We have an underdog in the midst here, but can “Jeller” pull off an upset for the second straight round? Time will tell. What is super-interesting is that this is the second straight year these two have faced off! Last year, Reid and JJ won by a narrow margin when they were considered the underdog. That victory is the reason for the different seeding this time around.
Reid and JJ, Criminal Minds (#3 seed) – The victory for Matthew Gray Gubler and AJ Cook’s characters to make it this far was a landslide, as they were able to take down Sherlock and Joan of Elementary without too much of a problem. They are going to have a tougher challenge here, but we do think that they’ve got the capacity to pull this off. After all, Reid and JJ’s popularity stems from a loving, supporting relationship — sure, their crime-fighting prowess is fun to watch, but some of their best scenes together are when they are either having fun together or working their way through a tough bind.
Jane and Weller, Blindspot (#7 seed) – There are all sorts of interesting coincidences in this showdown, and here’s another one — Jane and Weller defeated their round 1 opponent in Gibbs / McGee by the same percentage total as Reid and JJ did to Sherlock and Joan! It shows in some ways just how evenly matched these two duos are entering this round. We certainly think that there is plenty of visual evidence already as to the popularity of these two characters. When things are going well between the two of them, few duos are as exciting or passionate. Yet, it’s clear now that things are not going well for them entering season 4.
