Big Brother 20 episode 21 review: Hacking the hacker

Kaycee

Tonight, Big Brother 20 episode 21 had some strange editing, a lot of lying in the Diary Room (Angela acting like Haleigh wasn’t on he radar), and Sam continuing to play the game badly. Consider this: If you announce that you are the only “real” people in the house in front of another person, there’s a good chance that you are doing something wrong.

As a live feeder we knew already most of what was going to happen, including that Haleigh nominated Angela and Kaycee for eviction. Kaycee ended up winning the Hacker Comp and with that, saved herself and then nominated Rockstar. This was a smart move on her part, just like in theory it was a smart move for Haleigh to plan to backdoor Tyler. (It was nice to get confirmation on that tonight, not that it was much of a surprise.) Tyler does have his Cloud power, though, so we knew the moment Kaycee won the Hacker Comp that he would be safe for the week.

One thing that we did find especially amazing is that Kaycee won the Hacker Comp while still wearing the Peanut Outfit! Granted, she did at least get to wear the fancy hacker hoodie over it, but still.

The Hacker Comp this week was a little bit different than the first one and, as a result of that, was rather cool. You had to guess certain rooms of the house just based on tiny images and that was so much more difficult than you would imagine. (Also, Brett during the Diary Room for the Hacker Comps is tremendous, mostly because he recognizes how funny it is that he’s not better at this than he is. Self-aware Brett is one of the best iterations of Brett out there.) JC is basically the most terrible Hacker Comp performer ever — there was no language barrier this time and he still struggled to do well with this.

There were no big reactions with nominations … though Rockstar clearly wasn’t pleased.

CarterMatt Verdict

Tonight’s episode was another great reminder as to why Big Brother 20 works so well — it’s a good cast and with two clear sides of the house, there is near-constant conflict at just about every turn. Also, we become increasingly convinced every week that Brett has a reasonably good shot at winning this game.
