James Roday still planning Psych: The Movie sequel at some point
So, what’s the holdup? It’s a little thing known as the entertainment business. Because Psych isn’t a full-time job for any of the cast members, they have to get other work elsewhere. Right now, James Roday has a major role over on ABC’s A Million Little Things, while Dule Hill is a regular over on Suits and Maggie Lawson recently booked a recurring gig over on Lethal Weapon. While getting everyone back together for more hijinks is a tall order, we do think that there is a universal desire to make it happen — and we absolutely think that it will happen.

Speaking to reporters at TCA today while promoting his new series (via TVLine), Roday basically echoed as much:
“We’ll figure out a way to do it … All the pieces are still there, and everyone wants to do it. We’ve got to get [co-star] Tim Omundson back to his Psych-Os.”
Omundson’s work as Lassiter in the first movie was limited due to his recovery from a stroke. Yet, he still was a part of one of the movie’s most-emotional scenes and it’s going to be a thrill to see more Lassie the next go-around.
The biggest thing that everyone probably needs right now is patience, just because scheduling is going to make things tough. Yet, if it turns out that everyone has even just a month or so next summer, there are ways to make it work. There is actually a ton of flux when it comes to all of the other actor gigs that we’ve mentioned here — A Million Little Pieces is a new series, Lawson’s role is only currently a recurring one, and nobody knows yet if there’s going to be a ninth season of Suits.
