NCIS: New Orleans season 5: If Pride survives, should he have lengthy recovery?
Yet, one of the biggest loose ends has to remain the status of Dwayne Pride and for good reason, given that at the end of the last season the man was shot. Given that there has been zero indication that Scott Bakula is leaving the series, we gotta assume that he is going to find his way back into the fold somehow.

The thing that we’re the most curious about here is this: How does he move forward from this? How does he recover? The most likely scenario here is simply that his wounds heal and on the other side of it, he’s back to being the same guy. Yet, in doing this it somewhat makes it feel like the shooting wasn’t so serious and that these tam members don’t really have all that much skin in the game. We want there to be some sort of recovery period, whether it be him attending some sort of physical therapy during his off hours or him having more restrictions put on him as a result of what has happened. That doesn’t mean Pride is going to follow them, but there should be something in place for his recovery. The most important thing with a show like this is that there is some element of struggle and growth.
Can you still minimize some of that struggle via a time jump? Sure, and we imagine that Pride will be so much better in the premiere than he was in the finale, especially if the show operates in real time. With that said, it feels like you’re still going to be dealing with aftereffects of a bullet wound a good while following the original incident. He’s not going to get shot and then be out in the field the next week hopping fences and chasing down bad guys.

another thought – Pride can do light duty for a couple of weeks – new character may be a strong leader if Chris has to go to Alabama –

I agree that Pride needs time to fully heal from his wounds. But, knowing Pride, he’ll fight his recovery tooth and nail. It’s not in his DNA to lay back and rest when there’s a bad guy (or gal in this case) to put out of business! I’ve got a feeling he’ll fight his forced time off – but the team won’t allow him to get too involved – at least physically for a few weeks. I predict they’ll all protect him – AND get the dirt bag that did the deed!!!

Pride needs time to recover – but he can still spervise for a couple of weeks from the office. Would like to see former agents come back to assist the team – Brody, Isler, Percy and Rita!
