Shadowhunters season 3 finale officially wrapped; new Seelie Queen

Shadowhunters season 3 cast

Shadowhunters season 3 filming is now officially complete … and with that of course comes all of the emotion.

It’s been a long journey to get to this point, for the cast, crew, producers, and the folks behind the scenes who really work to make this series into magic. Now, the final two episodes of the season are in the can and that of course means time for all of the cast and crew to say goodbye. You can see below reactions from Katherine McNamara, Harry Shum Jr., Matt Hastings, and many other familiar faces who worked to make the show great.

While there is a sense of finality to many of these messages, we do think at the same time that there is still some hope for the future. That’s why it is so important to keep fighting and make it clear that there is still a desire to make #SaveShadowhunters into a reality. As we said both yesterday here and in the video below (subscribe to see more like it), it’s almost necessary for the cast to look at this as the end of the road so that they can feel a genuine sense of closure. If they don’t feel like the season 3 finale is the end of the road, then they may look back later thinking they didn’t get proper closure in the event that the show doesn’t come back.

Showrunner Todd Slavkin has already said that it is “unlikely” that the show finds a new home, but that is the same thing you can say for many shows that did end up airing somewhere else. The main value in continuing to fight to save Shadowhunters is that it shows to a future partner that these fans are a larger consumer base and someone who would do all they can to fight for the show and promote it.

New Seelie Queen casting

One more thing we do want to point out here is that Kimberly Sue-Murray has been brought on to play an older version of the Seelie Queen. This is the third actor to play this part after Lola Flanery and also Sarah Hyland, who probably was unable to return this time around given her Modern Family production schedule. Work recently began on that season of the series.

As always, we welcome your thoughts on all things Shadowhunters in the comments.

We wrapped several hours ago for our final day on @Shadowhunters. It has been an honor to play this iconic character created by @cassieclare1 & I honestly didn’t anticipate the level of impact it would have on people all over the world. I consider it a privilege to work with this extremely special group of people. I am humbled by the love and dedication you have for these characters. I go to work everyday and do my best to fulfill my duty as an actor to transform into this fictional character that feels real, authentic and genuine. But most importantly, to provide you entertainment to forget all your woes for a little while. So proud of this cast and crew for what we accomplished in 55 episodes. I thought this would be a fun pic to share of my transition into MB and my transition out. Thank you to Ed Decter, Michael Reisz, Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer, Matt Hastings, FreeForm and Constantine for allowing me to play in this world. ✌? & ❤️!!!! #ShadowhuntersLegacy

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” – Winnie the Pooh. Truly, #Shadowhunters has been an angelic blessing. Playing Clary is an honor that has taught me more than I can express. She is strong, courageous, compassionate, badass, and broken, and I love every little imperfect piece of her. She will always be a part of me and I’d like to think I left a little part of me with her. Beyond that, the family created from the cast and crew, to the writers and producers, to you angels is something to be cherished. Being a part of a story that resonates for so many people and has a real positive influence on their lives is a rare gift and privilege that I will forever treasure. We have been breathing rarified air here in the Shadow World, whether or not we knew it. This experience is lightning in a bottle and I will spend the rest of my life trying to find it again. However, if you take anything with you from this, take this: the story doesn’t end here. It lives on and continues in all of us as we carry on the #ShadowhuntersLegacy as a group of people who stand for acceptance, love, and unity. Hail and farewell, angels. All my love . You know what they say… when one door closes… ?⚔️✨
