America’s Got Talent: Quin & Misha get Martina McBride’s Golden Buzzer
So, who did she decide to award in the end? We knew going into the show that she likes to reward a performer in the middle of the show. Yet, they did it a little bit earlier tonight, and with Quin and Misha? We certainly weren’t expecting that. The ballroom dancing duo has a lot going for them as an inspirational story, given that Quin is in her seventies and she’s still out there trying to really make a name for herself in dance. It’s impressive, and the moves and the lifts that were in this routine also were.
Yet, was this really the greatest ballroom performance in the history of America’s Got Talent? That’s the best. To us, the struggle here is separating the performance part of it from the story. We do think this was very good, but was it different in any way with any dance routine we’ve seen in the past in the ballroom space? That’s where we struggle.
Overall, though, we’ll still cheer the choice just because this is someone who is not a singer getting a Golden Buzzer, which is rare in the show. It’s just not something that we anticipated happening at all. Yet, we would’ve probably given it to a different sort of variety act like a comic or a magician as opposed to something we’ve seen in other forms.
