America’s Got Talent. Angel City Chorale vs. Courtney Hadwin, Golden Buzzers
Let’s start with a reminder that before the start of Judge Cuts, we ranked all of the Golden Buzzer recipients so far this season. With that, we noted that Courtney was, by and large, the favorite. She not only has the most-popular audition, but she also has the potential to be very memorable with every single performance to come. Singers always have a natural advantage with this show; the track record over time makes that clear.
Does Angel City Chorale really have a shot at making it to the finale? We do think that it’s possible. They are unique when comparing them to other choirs and, as a matter of fact, we will say that they are better than the last Golden Buzzer recipient in Voices of Hope. They just have more versatility and we feel like they are more than capable of coming into the live shows and blowing everyone away there. Yet, we’re still not sure that they can topple out either Zurcaroh or Courtney, who to us are the two strongest acts of the season. In the case of Zurcaroh, you have a very a very-memorable acrobatic / dance act that could actually function as a fantastic Las Vegas show today (where many AGT acts end up). Courtney, meanwhile, fits more of the bill of a traditional winner for this show.

There are two more Judge Cuts rounds to go this season and we hope that through those, we get to see a little more diversity in some of the Golden Buzzer talent. It would be great to see a comedian or some sort of freakshow act get a little bit of love. We often think back to the year of Judge Cuts when Piff the Magic Dragon, Paul Zerdin, and Siro-A all got a little love from the judges. These were, by far, some of the best acts from the season and that Golden Buzzer for Paul helped to propel him further.
