NCIS season 16 will not have enormous time jump right away

NCIS

For anyone wondering, do not expect NCIS season 16 to take some enormous leap forward following the big Leon Vance cliffhanger.

According to a report from TVLine, the CBS series is going to pick up pretty close to where the end of season 15 left off, which involved the kidnapping of Leon Vance. Because of that, we imagine that the premiere will be in some ways an extension from the finale. This should be an epic, intense story, and hopefully over the course of the hour we will understand his fate and also what happens next for the entirety of the time. In booking Diona Reasonover as a series regular, we do know that the show is going to at least have the future of the team secure in the lab. If Vance survives, then we do know for certain that the same can be said for the leadership of the team.

Now, is it possible that there will be some sort of time jump on the other side of all of this? We have to think that it will happen eventually, mostly because it does with every season. NCIS is one of those shows that often loves to move forward in real time, especially since they love to do episodes themed around major holidays. We figure that, once Vance’s fate is known and any major loose ends are tied up, the show at that point can start to push ahead.

The NCIS season 16 premiere is going to air on CBS come Tuesday, September 25. We’re going to have some more updates in the weeks ahead, so stay tuned!
