Gotham season 5 photo: The latest reinvention of Barbara Kean
One of the real constants throughout the entire run of the series is how there has never really been a constant when it comes to Barbara Kean. We saw new versions of this character every single year, mostly because in many ways she is a chameleon. There was the more-innocent version in season 1 followed with the psychotic killer, the leader of the Sirens, and then the reborn / possible Demon’s Head version we had last year.
It’s still a little unclear as to precisely what version of this character we’re going to get moving into season 5, but the new photo via executive producer Danny Cannon (which you can check out below) does offer up a good sense as to what her new look is going to be. It doesn’t look incredibly different from her season 4 appearance, though we do think this is leaning more into her as a fighter and someone who will be doing things on the ground — while also leading the Sirens in the process.
As we approach the end of Gotham season 5 (and unfortunately the end of the series), Barbara is one of the characters who you should be worried about the most. She is so different from the iteration that was in the comics that if producers don’t want to kill off any major Batman villains (though technically they’ve already done that with Grundy), she is a candidate. Granted, the whole idea of Gotham at this point is just that it is the writers / producers version of the Batman story as opposed to just following the letter of the law of the comics. They are not necessarily trying to replicate the Batman universe that you’ve read about or seen in some other movies. That being said we don’t want this series to end without seeing Jim Gordon’s famous mustache.
