Drunk History season 6 premiere date hopes on Comedy Central
Let’s start here with a reminder that there will, in fact, be a sixth season … which really should not come as much of a surprise. This series has developed a really loyal following, but one of the best things about it is that there is constantly so much new blood within it (comedians come and go as they please for various retellings) that the show never runs the risk of getting stale.
In a statement back when the renewal was first announced, Comedy Central’s own Kent Alterman had the following to say:
“They say history is written by the victors, but after five seasons, it’s now clear that it is best told by drunken comedians.”
As for when season 6 could premiere, there is nothing confirmed as of yet … but we really liked the split-season format this year where there was a batch in the winter and then also a batch in the summer. It makes some sense for Comedy Central to try and take advantage of the times in which there isn’t as much other programming out there. Why not strike while the iron is hot and figure out a way to get as much of an audience on your side as possible?
One of the other things that we do feel confident about is that Drunk History is still a show that hasn’t really hit its peak just yet. After all, we do think that there are some viewers who are still discovering the show and they have a whole trove of episodes that they can go and check out. With the right promotion and with some notable comedians, we do have a feeling that Drunk History could still be a hit for quite a while moving into the future.
