Gotham season 5 premiere title reportedly a nod to Zero Year series
Per a report from SpoilerTV right now, the title for the first episode is going to be “Year Zero.” That is clearly a nod to Batman: Zero Year, one of the most iconic comic stories out there. This gives you a dose of an early iteration of Bruce Wayne, one who does battle with the Riddler. It makes sense for Ed Nygma to be a major villain in season 5 given his journey, just as it makes sense for Gotham season 5 really present more of Batman than at any point we’ve seen to date.
Given that Gotham season 5 is only going to run for ten episodes, we imagine that we’re going to see a little bit more of a contained story than any other that we’ve seen to date. We don’t imagine that there are going to be too many deviations, mostly because there is very little reason for them to do that. The real shame here, though, is that with only ten episodes there are probably going to be characters who don’t get a whole lot of attention. We’ll be lucky to get more of some of the core characters, but that may be it. As a whole, Gotham season 5 could end up being the best edition of the series that we’ve seen so far. We’ve spent all of this time investing into these characters and because of that, there could be more weight moving forward than in just about any other Batman adaptation out there.
Now, if we can only see Bruce Wayne don some sort of iteration of the famous costume…
