The Resident character spotlight: what’s ahead of Dr. Mina Okafor?
Her relationship with Micah Stevens – The young teacher is a repeated patient of Conrad’s, and also just so managed to capture Mina’s heart. Before Micah, Mina wouldn’t have even thought of starting something with anyone, let alone of patient. However, there was something about Micah that made her change her mind, and after a night spent at her house Micah ends up back in the hospital. After an intense and risky surgery, Micah lived and Mina’s true feelings are revealed. So moving into Season 2, we hope the writers continue to focus on their relationship. It humanized Mina in a way that helped her. She began to see things in a different light. While still confident in her skills, we got a sense that she realized that her patients are real people with feelings. It was a quick but touching moment. We want to see more of this moving forward. In addition, Micah and Mina do make a great couple.
Dr. AJ “The Raptor” Austin – Dr. Austin serves as a mentor to Mina. He is an incredibly skilled doctor who sees something special in Mina and wants to teach her even more than she has already been taught. In other ways, Mina serves as a mentor to Austin because his bedside manner is pretty much nonexistent. As a result, Mina helps Austin improve on this flaw of his. The relationship between is fun to watch because neither of them take the other’s attitude. It’s a great dynamic and it works. So moving into Season 2 we definitely want to see more of this dynamic duo.
The Resident Season 2 is going to filled with intensity and excitement. The writers have set the show up for another battle between the hierarchy of the hospital and its doctors. Overall, September 24 can’t come soon enough.
