The Save Timeless helicopter is officially set to fly over Comic-Con

For everyone wanting an update on yesterday’s big Timeless story revolving around a helicopter and San Diego Comic-Con, we’ve got big news — it appears as though the banner is actually happening!

Over the past few days, the goal has been for the fandom to raise more than $17,500 to pay for a helicopter to fly over the San Diego convention for three hours, with a banner in tow with the desired message. They reached that goal Sunday on GoFundMe, but they are continuing to raise further money in order to get either a larger banner, more flying time, or potentially a live stream as it happens. The flyover is scheduled to happen on Saturday, July 21, which just so happens to be one of the biggest days of the convention.

Will this banner work to get anyone’s attention? We discussed this briefly in our previous update, but the jury’s still out on that. Timeless is in a tough position in that all suitors have already passed on the series and the cast contracts are up. With that, a new home would have to re-sign everyone in addition to doing all of the typical stuff that comes with reviving a show. Can this help to change someone’s mind? All you can do is cross your fingers and hope for the best — there is still a possibility NBC chooses to make a movie, and that hasn’t been ruled out entirely.

The campaign has gotten the attention of series star Malcolm Barrett (Rufus), who came up with the amusing name of “heli-clockter” for what’s taking the skies. This is going to be a fun thing to see happen, in addition to seeing some reactions from many attendees at the convention in general. Given just how many people attend Comic-Con every single year, we’ve got a feeling that this is certainly going to capture the attention of many people in attendance.

If we do hear anything more regarding the future of Timeless, we’ll of course have that information for you here!
