Is Homeland season 8 really the final season, after all?
While there have been previously many suggestions that we are nearing the end of the road, Showtime has yet to put out some sort of official statement confirming anything. To go along with that, we also have some new quotes that very much suggest that this is a decision that could be coming 100% down the road as opposed to right now.
Take a look, per GoldDerby, at what executive producer Howard Gordon had to say on the subject:
“We’re taking it one season at a time. We had originally thought next year was going to be the last or that was at least as much as Showtime had committed to, but we’re really going to see how this season turns out. It really is a year-by-year process and if the story is there and if the timing is right and if there’s willingness, I think people are generally open to the idea, so no one’s really committing one way or the other about it, except that we’re going to try to do as good a season as we can possibly do and see what happens then.”
Do we think that a season 9 could work?
The thing about Homeland is that there is really no end to the subject insofar as relevance goes. There is always going to be a reason to continue doing the show, at least so far as everyone involved in it wants to continue filming more seasons. It really just comes down to if there is a great creative.
Just remember that this is far from the first time that there’s been speculation on the final season of a Showtime series. This is something that Dexter dealt with for a rather-long time and then beyond that, we’re currently seeing all sorts of speculation one way or another with Shameless.
Do you think that Homeland season 8 really should be the last season of the series? Share in the comments!
