Poldark season 4 episode 5 expectations: Ross, Caroline, Drake, & more
Below, you can get some more extensive information as to what lies ahead via BBC One — but, you should note that there is some information ahead that even UK viewers may want as a surprise:
With rising grain prices across the country working men struggle to support their families. To his frustration, Ross’ efforts in Westminster meet successive failures and he is advised to take a more sly approach.
In Cornwall, Demelza’s match-making continues successfully and Drake and Rosina are engaged. Ossie meanwhile hires a sterner nurse to remove John Conan from Morwenna permanently, and continues calling on Rowella while her husband Arthur visits his parents.
In London, Ross attempts to make Caroline deal with her grief but finds her in the orbit of Monk Adderley, who only helps her ignore it. Tensions between Adderley and Ross rise again.
Ross pitches a plan to Falmouth for landowners to top up their employees’ wages and Falmouth forces Ross to compromise his principles in return for Falmouth backing his plan. Ross and Basset return to Cornwall to trial the scheme…
The idea of Caroline potentially taking comfort away from Dwight is something that was already teased in the promo for this episode, and it may help to explain a little bit further why Ross and Adderley are so very much at odds. Ross of course wants to protect Dwight and Caroline both and may recognize that Adderley wants to take advantage of Caroline in some way. Meanwhile, Ossie is just going to keep being Ossie — a terrible, miserable human being who wants to spend time with Rowella while also still keeping up his public façade. The engagement of Drake and Rosina will be another blow to Morwenna when she finds out, but we also understand why it’s happening. You just have to hope that there is some sort of way in which she and Drake can find a way back to each other.
