Code Black season 3 ratings withstand July 4 rather nicely
Yet, the medical drama did a fairly respectable job, all things considered, in keeping up its numbers for a dramatic episode that put Rox in danger and made Leanne question whether or not Ariel had run away. Wednesday’s episode generated a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic to go along with nearly 5 million viewers. Other than NBC’s July 4 Fireworks Spectacular and also a new episode of Big Brother 20, this was actually the top-rated show of the night in the demo. Meanwhile, it was the most-watched program of the night, excluding NBC’s aforementioned special. (The fact that Code Black performed better than Big Brother in viewers, a show with a significantly greater amount of promotion, is pretty incredible.)
Alas, we don’t think any of this makes a different when it comes to CBS’ decision to cancel the show. We just think it’s important to keep calling out what feels like a grave injustice when it comes to the programming decisions that the network is making.
There are two more episodes of Code Black coming this season; fingers crossed that these end up drawing some good numbers so that the season is able to finish up strong.
