Nashville season 6 episode 12 video: Deacon’s father takes center stage
In the sneak peek below via TV Guide, you can see Deacon’s father Gideon turn up and some of the immediate aftereffects that come along with his arrival. This is a man who was not there for his son at all earlier on in his life, and now, all of a sudden, he wants to be there. What gives with that?
What we can say though is that Deacon’s father seems to be desperate in order to turn over a new leaf. He has regrets about how he treated his son and those close to him. That may be true, but in Deacon’s mind it is far too late. This sneak peek features a heck of a powerful performance from Charles Esten, especially as he questions whether or not his father has cancer or if there is some sort of other reason for him to be around him.
Ultimately, this sneak peek comes to a close with Deacon sending his father away — yet, at the same time we don’t think that this is the last that we’ve seen of this story in the slightest. We imagine that there are going to be some more scenes coming up addressing this in some capacity. This feels mostly like a ghost from Deacon’s past that isn’t going to be going away anytime soon.
