MasterChef season 9 episode 7 video: A World Cup tribute?

MasterChef season 9

When MasterChef season 9 episode 7 airs on Fox Wednesday night, it’s going to offer up the tribute to the World Cup nobody asked for. It’s actually kind of funny that we’re getting this given that America isn’t even in the World Cup this year. Not only that, but it’s even funnier in that out of Joe Bastianich, Gordon Ramsay, and Aaron Sanchez, only one of them is actually wearing a jersey of a team that’s in the tournament. (Italy isn’t a part of the World Cup this year and beyond that, neither is Ramsay’s Scotland. England, however, is taking part.)

By and large, the World Cup tribute in the episode is mostly window dressing, but it should be a rather-fun backdrop for a pretty entertaining and eventful hour of television. Over the course of the episode we will see the remaining home cooks tackle something that has something to do with a million or so potatoes, given that these seem to be what’s under the Mystery Boxes. We have so many questions, including how in the world the producers managed to cram so many spuds under all of these in the first place.

Moving into this episode, it also seems as though one particular contestant is going to be feeling the heat — Bowen. Is he being targeted by some of the other competitors as a threat? It wouldn’t come as all that much of a surprise, mostly when you consider the fact that he is so ambitious and his family has some culinary background. While we don’t think that targeting big threats is something that happens all that much in the early going of MasterChef, it absolutely does still take place here and there. It just rarely works given that these seasons are often built into tiers of various levels of competition. There are typically about five or six home cooks head and shoulders above the rest.
