Succession season 2 renewal confirmed over at HBO
This morning, the network formally confirmed that another batch of episodes for the media-centric drama will be coming in the future after season 1 delivered some solid reviews right from the jump. The premiere posted almost 600,000 live viewers, but that number is likely increasingly exponentially across some of the other different platforms once all of the other viewing measures are considered.
In giving a renewal this early, what we are effectively seeing here is a commitment by the network to telling some great stories and, beyond that, making sure the powers that be behind the scenes have a sense of stability. There are very few networks out there that give out renewals this early into a series run and when that happens, we do like to think that it means something fairly substantial. We definitely do think that it does in this case.
Hopefully, we will get a chance to see a Succession season 2 come 2019. We do know that the network has a rather busy schedule in the months to come, given that there is already on the docket the final season of Game of Thrones, plus also the third season of True Detective and then also Big Little Lies season 2. Maybe HBO decides to pair up one of these shows with Succession as a means of further boosting its own ratings. That seems to be in part what they are doing at the moment with pairing the show up with Westworld.
