Fargo season 4: The path leading up to filming

When you are a show like Fargo that has an extremely loyal following, you have to expect on some level rampant speculation surrounding every single little thing you do. It’s a show beloved by many people out there and, to go along with it, one that also takes a long time to make. Viewers get impatient because of that! One of the big problems with filming, of course, is that the climate up north has to be perfect in order to start shooting. This is a wintry series and we don’t think that there is ever going to be too much of a push to change that.

Here’s the good news — according to executive producer Warren Littlefield, a number of the finer details have already been figured out. Speaking per Deadline, Littlefield confirmed that production has a “year, a city, and a location” for the upcoming batch of episodes, and there are already some things planned out when it comes to the scheduling of everything:

“(Creator) Noah Hawley is directing a film this summer (Natalie Portman in Fox Searchlight’s Pale Blue Dot), and then in the fourth quarter, he’ll write the opening hour of Fargo, and then at the top of the year, the writers’ room will go to work. Hopefully we get most of the season written, and then in fall go into production.”

When you think about the length of filming/post-production, the earliest we could see Fargo season 4 premiering is in the spring of 2020. This batch of episodes is reportedly going to be set in the past, but beyond that it’s probably too early to get into a whole lot else. How much information can you really divulge about a show when the first episode hasn’t even been written yet? In due time, everything will start to become clear.
