Quantico star Priyanka Chopra apologizes personally for recent episode
One day after ABC Studios apologized for a recent episode of Quantico, series star Priyanka Chopra has also done the same.
In a post on Twitter more than one week following the airing of “The Blood of Romeo” in America, here is what Chopra had to say:
I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I’m a proud Indian and that will never change.
This episode revolved around attempts by the FBI and Alex Parrish (Chopra) to stop a dangerous Indian nationalist from carrying out a terrorist attack — one that he intended to pin on Pakistan. This episode first aired days before a summit between the two countries and there are many different historical and cultural issues that come into play.
The response to Chopra’s apology has very much been mixed on social media. While some have accepted it, others have felt that it did not go anywhere near far enough. This is a delicate issue, one that we are not even going to pretend to understand fully. What this entire issue mostly shows is that sometimes, there is value in coming up with fictional countries and locations for television shows rather than putting yourself in a position where you end up offending a rather large demographic of people. Shows like Quantico are tricky in that you need to have villains and terrorists to take down, but there are still better and more successful ways of doing so than what was decided upon here.
Quantico was on hiatus this past week for the conclusion of the NBA Finals. It is going to return with new episodes on Friday, where it will hopefully get a chance to air weekly for the remainder of the season.
