Instinct episode 13 (finale) spoilers: Are Dylan, Andy adopting?

Instinct episode 13 is the final episode of the season, and you can expect to see it on CBS come Sunday, July 1 at a special time in 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. This is an episode that will tie up the first season in a wide array of ways — Whoopi Goldberg is going to be appearing and many different stories from the first season will come home to roost. Beyond all of this, you’re going to see Dylan and Andy make a big decision on their future as parents!

“Tribal” – Dylan and Lizzie investigate the murder of Joan’s (Whoopi Goldberg) protégé, Kristy (Paton Ashbrook), uncovering long-buried secrets worth killing over. Also, Dylan and Andy apply to adopt a child, and Lizzie’s reliance on Julian’s illicitly obtained information puts a promotion in jeopardy, on the first season finale of INSTINCT, Sunday, July 1 at a special time (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

From a storytelling standpoint, we hope that if Dylan and Andy do become parents, they adopt someone old enough (think four or so years old, at least) that they can be an active part of the show. With babies on television, sometimes it’s hard to work with them in a meaningful way. Also, it sends a great message to encourage adoption for all sorts of children. This could be the emotional core of what is otherwise a crazy, intense episode that really sets the stage for some big cliffhangers. What sort of trouble is Joan going to find herself in by the end of this story? That’s something absolutely worth examining and wondering about.

At least you can watch this episode with confidence that Instinct has been renewed for a second season. Given that the ratings haven’t been the best (at least in the demo), we take some comfort in that.
