Could The Fosters season 6 ever happen, or is that what Good Trouble is for?
We understand why there would be a demand for more of the Freeform family drama, especially since the end of The Fosters itself came about in a fairly-abrupt manner. The series finale was tacked-on to the season 5 order and when you think about the depth of these characters, there are opportunities to explore and dive into them as adults. Who wouldn’t want to see what people like Jude, Brandon, and Jesus get up to years down the road? The same certainly goes for Callie and Mariana, but we know that there’s going to be an opportunity to do that in the form of there upcoming Freeform spin-off Good Trouble, which will feature the two trying to figure out how to make their lives work in Los Angeles. It feels like the series finale is in some ways a backdoor pilot for that show, given that we’ve already heard some discussions as to the characters’ future.
If there is ever going to be a reunion for The Fosters, it will probably come about in some form over there. We imagine that there will be invitations out to the majority of the show’s original cast to appear; whether or not that happens could come down to scheduling and a wide array of other factors. Maybe you don’t get the entire cast in the same place at the same time, but we could see some of them pop up on occasion over there. While it may not be a substitute for the original series, Good Trouble will keep the legacy of the original series going while also bringing something new and exciting to the table. There is no firm premiere date for it just yet.
