13 Reasons Why season 2 ratings shed light on popularity
According to Nielsen information posted via Deadline, the drama drew an average minute audience of 2.6 million viewers through the first three days of the show being available — beyond that, more than 6 million viewers watched the entire premiere and more than 4 million viewers watched episode 3. Per the site’s information, almost a million viewers watched the entire second season of the show over a single weekend, which is certainly an impressive feat when you consider the length of the episodes and the darker subject matter at the center of the story.
Despite these ratings, we don’t think that a 13 Reasons Why season 3 is in any way assured, mostly because the reviews for season 2 were not on the same level as season 1. Not only that, but we do wonder if there is really that much more story to tell now that Hannah Baker is seemingly gone from the show as a whole. It just feels at this point like there are some other subjects that can be taken on now that the main story of these characters has been told — in some ways, even more so than it needed to be told.
In seeing these numbers, though, it does make us wish all the more that Netflix would release more of their viewership information. Wouldn’t it be fascinating to learn?
