The Brave effectively over following cancellation, fan campaigns

This is certainly not the sort of news that we hoped we would get to report regarding The Brave, but here we are — it appears as though the show is officially over.

Earlier this month, NBC canceled the series after just one season, with the low ratings being an unfortunate factor in it. Yet, we’ve long felt like many fans of The Brave didn’t come on board until late and there was potential for the show to build its audience — it won our TV Madness poll and performed extremely well in a number of cancellation-related polls around the internet. The #RedeployTheBrave movement was strong and fans deserve a ton of credit for it.

Unfortunately, the attempts to find the show a new home have apparently come to an end, at least for the time being. Here’s some of what executive producer Dean Georgaris had to say on the subject via Twitter:

Band of Bravers, unfortunately, at this point we’ve exhausted our options for the show.  My partners at Keshet will continue to look for unconventional ideas, but realistically it’s time we all focus on NEW things, the NEXT chapter, etc.  All of us will be forever grateful for the amazing year we had, and mostly for all of YOU.  Your support has meant so much to the cast and the crew.  And the way you embraced the spirit of service, a spirit that drives the men and women who do this job in real life, will stay with me always.

It’s wonderful to think that there could still be a home for the series out there somewhere, but unfortunately, the best thing to do sometimes is move forward. We’re thrilled that Georgaris and the team did their best behind the scenes; revivals just don’t happen the majority of the time. We like to think of them as a more-common occurrence because we hear about Brooklyn Nine-Nine and some canceled shows coming back. In the end, though, only a small percentage of canceled series ever see the life of day.

To all the Brave fans for your passion, we salute you, and we look forward to seeing what all of the cast and crew does next.
