NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 finale: Did someone leave?
Going into the finale, there were some causes for concern, especially when it comes to a promo that made it seem like Deeks desperately wanted out. We already knew that he wanted to start a bar and even when he got aboard the plane at the end of the hour, he suggested that it was for one last mission. At that moment, it didn’t seem like he was all that intent on sticking around with the rest of the team. The mere thought of this made us more than a little bit sad.
Even during most of the final mission tonight, Deeks still wasn’t altogether interested in talking about his future.
Here’s the biggest twist of all — by the end of the episode, we were absolutely concerned for the future of Deeks and Olsen on the show. Yet, the same could be said for many of our main characters. The future of Daniela Ruah, LL Cool J, and Chris O’Donnell are all in the air after that explosion in the closing seconds to go along with Olsen. We know that he plays the character most eager to depart the team, but we’re at a point now where almost anything could happen.
Ultimately, we imagine that this was a cliffhanger designed to ensure that the story makes sense in the event that a series regular does not come back — if that happens, it’s a rather sad death for their character.
