Agents of SHIELD ratings rise as season 6 decision looms
For the time being, we do come bearing some good news as Friday night’s new episode generated a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic to go along 1.96 million viewers. This is one of the first signs we’ve seen of some sort of Infinity War effect helping Agents of SHIELD — beyond just that, this marks the series’ best performance in either measure since early April. It’s not often that you get ratings increases in the month of May so we will certainly take this as a cause of great celebration.
Unfortunately now, the struggle that we have to deal with is whether or not ABC will renew the series or cancel it before the upcoming finale. Based on past history, we would wager that ABC will, one way or another, render a verdict before the final episode airs. We’re positively optimistic but it’s a little too early to be able to say one way or another here. If Agents of SHIELD does return, odds are it will remain on Fridays — we wouldn’t be shocked if it receives something like a 13-episode final season, mostly as a means to better wrap everything up.
