The CW orders The Originals spin-off entitled Legacies
The Vampire Diaries and The Originals have officially given birth to a new CW show — today, the network confirmed that they are picking up the Hope-centric spin-off Legacies.
This idea has been in the works for the past year or so, but at the same time there was a great deal of conversation suggesting that this show may not come together. After all, news on it went dark for several months and the series did not even film a formal pilot. Yet, the ratings success of The Originals this season, plus the strength of the original concept (Original pun intended), were enough to bring the series on board for a run in the upcoming 2018-19 season.
The logline that CarterMatt has for you below gives you a better sense as to what you can expect:
Continuing the tradition of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson; Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman; and other young adults come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves…in spite of their worst impulses. Will these young witches, vampires and werewolves become the heroes they want to be — or the villains they were born to be?
Danielle Rose Russell will be reprising her The Originals version of Hope for the show, while Matt Davis will reunite with executive producer Julie Plec in the role of Alaric. As for whether or not there will be other characters from either The Vampire Diaries or The Originals, that’s something to wait and see on. Often with pilots networks announce more cast members over the summer and there is certainly potential for some others to turn up as guest stars over time.
