The CW passes on Supernatural spin-off Wayward Sisters
According to writer Bobo Berens, The CW has officially passed on the Supernatural spin-off Wayward Sisters, a sad and fairly shocking move mostly because it had so much potential and the backdoor pilot was so well-received. With all of these factors in mind, it really makes us wonder one simple thing: Why did they even order it in the first place? This was infinitely better than Supernatural: Bloodlines, which was the last major attempt to launch some sort of franchise out of this show. We thought that this would be a great fit even as just a mid-season or summer show to fill the gap between seasons. It was definitely already a planted part in the Supernatural universe.
So what happens next? It’s hard to imagine the show existing beyond The CW and we’d love to see them change their mind. Beyond that, the best thing that we can really hope for is that we get to see some of these characters back on Supernatural again in the future. Hopefully there is a way in which this will happen.
Ultimately, the biggest reason that we are so shocked about this announcement is because The CW has two extra hours coming for programming this coming season and there are a lot of different things that they could use those for. We were even hoping on some level that we would get a lineup that included this as well as the untitled The Originals spin-off led by Klaus’ daughter Hope. As of right now, that show is still in contention to be picked up.
