Instinct episode 8 preview: The story of a ‘Long Shot’

Instinct episode 8 on CBS next week carries with it the title of “Long Shot,” and we really do think that this is an applicable name for this series in more ways than one. We’re talking about a case that is going to push Dylan and Lizzie to the limit but, beyond that, Instinct is also a series right now that is somewhat at the limit when it comes to the ratings. It’s still not altogether clear as to whether or not it could be coming back for another season — some have labeled its chances as a longshot, but we do think that the total-viewer figures for the series mean something and we’re starting to get a little more hopeful that there is life left in the series still.

The Instinct episode 8 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offers up some additional information now on what’s coming for the show moving forward:

“Long Shot” – When a woman is shot outside a community center, Dylan and Lizzie are challenged by the mayor to solve the case in less than 24 hours to quell pressure from the media and special interest groups, on INSTINCT, Sunday, May 13 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

It feels pretty darn clear upon looking at this as to why the stakes for this series are as high as they are. You’ve got our two main characters on an epic race against time in order to get justice that the Mayor is so clearly seeking. If they don’t get that, all of a sudden their lives could get so much more difficult for them. After all, we do think that the Mayor is one of the last people you really want to tick off. Granted, getting on their good side is a way to either move up the latter or at least get a chance to tackle some more high-profile cases in the future. For Lizzie and Dylan, we’d say that they aren’t entirely focused on the glory, but they do want to help the most people possible. That is where their focus likely lies moving into the home stretch of the season.
