Bull season 3: Should Pauley Perrette appear after NCIS exit?

On Tuesday night we are seeing the exit of Pauley Perrette from NCIS, and we know that in the aftermath of that there are going to be plenty of offers coming her way. The actress confirmed recently in a CBS This Morning interview that she’s already received many.

If we were to think about future gigs for the actress, though, one would pretty easily rise to the top: Bull season 3. Just in terms of making many people out there happy, the gig just makes sense.

For starters, it’s a chance to reunite with Michael Weatherly. With Michael filming Bull we have a hard time envisioning that there is a Tony DiNozzo cameo on Tuesday’s new NCIS; an appearance on a Bull episode would be a great way to substitute for that. Pauley has a great relationship with CBS stemming from her gig as Abby, so why not carry that positivity forward towards an appearance on another show? That’s a chance to play a completely different character on a show that really puts its actors first. This is a dialogue-driven show and with that, the casts do the majority of the heavy lifting.

In some ways, we’re surprised that there haven’t been more appearances from NCIS alum on Bull through the first two seasons, but we understand that this may be in part by design. Because Bull is a desperate show set within a separate universe, it does make some sense that the writers would want to establish it more as its own thing rather than just another version of a show that’s already out there.

Yet, with Bull season 2 we think the producers did an exceptional job of setting up this series as its own thing and with that in mind, we think it’d be rather wonderful to get to see some former NCIS cast members stop by for a role. It’d be a nice little boost to the ratings and it would probably only be for an episode or two. It wouldn’t be changing Bull; instead, it would be a gift to see some familiar faces working together again — even if it’s in a new role.
