Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 23 preview: A devastating injury

Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 23 is entitled “Cold As Ice,” but by the time this one airs we have a feeling that the title is going to be one of the last things that people are going to be talking about here. Instead, it’s seeing what happens when it comes to a devastating injury that could end up bringing many in the hospital to their knees.

One of Grey Sloan Memorial’s own is seriously injured, making the team reflect on what is truly important to them. Meanwhile, Nicole Herman pays a visit to Grey Sloan and talks to Arizona about an exciting opportunity.

Anytime that there is a major character on Grey’s Anatomy who is hurt in some capacity close to the finale, you almost immediately have to worry about what the implications there could be. Given that both Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw are leaving the show at the end of the finale, some of those implications have increased exponentially. The promo makes it very clear that April is the one in danger.

As for the arrival of Dr. Herman, it feels fairly clear that her arrival is going to be tied in turn to what happens with Arizona. What we know at this point is fairly simple: If Arizona is going to be departing the show, we want her exit to be a happy, celebratory affair. We don’t want it to be something that causes us to collapse on the floor bawling. Whatever happens here will likely lead directly into the finale … and that’s one that some of the characters are already warning you about. That’s why we are worried more so than anything specifically that happens over the course of this episode.
