The Durrells season 3 episode 6 preview: Gerry’s birthday party
Of course, it feels right to go ahead and expect there to be some major snags in said birthday party as pretty much nothing happens the way in which you would expect. This is a family who constantly deals with some sort of chaos, and all signs point already to this trend continuing over the course of the upcoming hour. There will be twists, there will be a celebration, but there will also be some emotional reflection that comes along with such a party. There are, after all, some significant chapters of life that are now being formally checked off.
For a little bit more on that, just be sure to check out the attached synopsis below:
The family plan a party to celebrate Gerry’s 13th birthday, but when a plague of mosquitoes descends, they are forced to hold it inside. As the party planning progresses, Louisa is finding it hard to accept that her youngest is growing up. Gerry insists that he doesn’t want a fuss, but gets frustrated and upset when the party is clearly aimed at someone much younger.
Trying to pick up the mood, Margo’s transformation of an otherwise disastrous party results in hilarious antics as everyone but Spiros seems to join the party spirit. His distant behaviour concerns Louisa who wonders why he has locked himself in a room to sing sad love songs.
Much of this actually sounds like a classic birthday party for a young man — at first, he may act as though he’s totally cool and don’t want anyone to make much of a big fuss over the big day. Yet, at the same exact time he secretly does want that underneath the surface. He just wants everyone to realize that as opposed to having to tell them himself. This could be ultimately one of the funnier episodes of this season, but there could be some drama that ends up creeping in there somewhere.
